We are pleased to have board-certified veterinary dermatologist Dr. Layne joining us part time starting in September of 2024. As well as being a skilled clinician, she is active in veterinary dermatology research and will be bringing expertise in state-of-the-art treatments like laser surgery to our clinic.

After Dr. Layne graduated from Colorado State University College of Veterinary Medicine, she worked for 11 years in mixed animal and small animal private practice. She then underwent dermatology specialty training as an intern and then resident at the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Veterinary Medicine. She stayed at U. Wisconsin-Madison for two more years as a clinical instructor, and then moved to Salt Lake City, Utah, where she worked for five years at a specialty practice. In addition to working with us at Unleashed Veterinary Dermatology, she also owns her own veterinary dermatology clinic in Montana.

Dr. Layne’s research focus has been on allergy to normal skin flora and various aspects of intradermal tests. You can read about her research on her Google scholar page. And when she is not seeing patients or conducting her own research, Dr. Layne is the co-editor of Wiley’s journal Veterinary Dermatology.

She and her husband have two cats and one dog, and enjoy a variety of outdoor activities. She is looking forward to working with Dr. Falk to meet the needs of pets and their owners in CT.
